Language Differences or Learning Need:  Special Education Considerations for English Language Learners

Event Description

When educators come together to create a problem-solving framework that acknowledges and embraces the cultural and linguistic needs of English language learners (ELLs), higher quality educational services result.  Participants will gain expertise in collaborating, gathering valid and reliable information, and delivering a continuum of services through the ELL lens.  Participants will explore the seven factors that impact the academic achievement of ELLs and will acquire hands-on experience in crafting systemic and specific interventions and progress monitoring systems to address students' difficulties in school. Participants will receive a copy of Barbara Marler's book, Special Education Considerations for English Language Learners (2013): Delivering a continuum of services (2007, 2013).
